About Caswell Memorial State Park
The Stanislaus River runs alongside a stand of riparian oak woodland that the park works to protect, a forest type that once spread widely through California's Central Valley but has since become threatened. Several endangered species make their home within the park's 258 acres. The land preserved here represents a remnant of the valley floor habitat that has largely disappeared elsewhere in the region.
