About Brannan Island State Recreation Area

Established in 1952, this 329-acre unit protects a stretch of channels, islands and marsh where the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers meet before reaching the bay. The terrain is defined by water more than land, cut through with sloughs that support habitat for birds and other wildlife. Visitors can boat, windsurf or swim among the delta's channels. It sits between Rio Vista and Isleton, northeast of San Francisco Bay.
