About Cayucos State Beach

16 acres of sandy shoreline make up this stretch of coast, set aside as parkland in 1940. The beach supports swimming and surfing. The surrounding central coast area was inhabited by the Chumash people as far back as roughly 10,000 to 11,000 BCE, with a large village once located to the south at Morro Creek.
