About Leucadia State Beach

A 20-year operating agreement between the city of Encinitas and California's parks department put this shoreline under local management, though the state retains ownership. Also called Beacon's Beach, the 10.6-acre stretch of coast has drawn swimmers, surfers, and anglers since it was first set aside in 1949. Its small size hasn't kept it from becoming a regular gathering point for people looking to get in the water or cast a line.
