About Humaston Brook State Park
Northfield Pond, formed by a 19th-century dam across Humaston Brook, sits at the center of this day use area, which stays largely undeveloped. Below the dam, stone foundations remain from the old Northfield Knife Company, once one of Litchfield's largest employers, and the pond is still known locally as Knife Shop Pond. Visitors can hike or fish along the brook, a tributary of the Naugatuck River, within the village of Northfield.
