A large rock face named Black Rock gives the park its name and offers views stretching over Thomaston, Watertown, and parts of Waterbury. The 444-acre property borders Mattatuck State Forest and operates as a seasonal recreation area. It is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
