About Cape Henlopen State Park
The sandy point at the mouth of the Delaware Bay covers 5,450 acres, land William Penn set aside for public use as early as 1682. A fishing pier here stays open around the clock all year, while the rest of the grounds, including an Atlantic-facing bathhouse, surf-fishing area, disc golf course, and paths for walking and biking, follow sunrise-to-sunset hours. Herring Point draws surfers, and the park forms part of Delaware's Coastal Heritage Greenway.
