About Oleta River State Park
Mangrove forests line the coast here, filtering urban pollution and giving aquatic life a place to breed. The 1,033-acre property sits on Biscayne Bay next to Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus and holds one of the largest stands of Casuarina trees found in the state park system. About 15 endangered species are recorded within its boundaries, and a nonprofit citizen support group works alongside the park to fund events and support its biodiversity efforts.
