About Royal Palm State Park
Florida's earliest designated state park land was set aside here in 1916, protecting a stand of royal palms that gave the site its name. For three decades it stood as its own separate preserve before being absorbed into Everglades National Park in 1947, ending its run as an independently managed state park.
