About Jack Hill State Park
662 acres of Georgia's coastal plain make up this park, ground that was submerged underwater for nearly 20 million years and later resembled the jungles and plains of Africa until about a million years ago. It carries a former name, Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park, drawn from the nearby Altamaha River and a nearly extinct Gordonia tree. A 12-acre lake stocked with fish sits alongside Brazell's Creek, a golf course recently expanded from 9 to 18 holes.
