About Shabbona Lake State Park
A man-made lake formed in 1975 by damming Indian Creek anchors the recreation area, covering part of its 1,550 acres in Shabbona Township. The park protects this reservoir and the surrounding land, named for the Potawatomi leader Shabbona. The lake was built as a tributary project on Indian Creek, which feeds into the Fox River.
