About Banner Lakes at Summerset State Park

222 acres of land make up this park, built on ground once worked by a coal mine from the 1930s. Its two lakes formed from what the mining operation left behind, giving the park its name. The park opened in 2004, turning the former industrial site into public land near Indianola.
