About Ledges State Park
Pea's Creek carved a sandstone gorge here as it flows toward the Des Moines River, cutting stone walls that drop 100 feet in places. Concretions jut out from the cliff faces along the gorge, giving the rock formations an irregular, knobby texture. The park has protected this landscape since 1924.
