About Fort Boonesborough State Park

Daniel Boone and his men established this frontier fort in 1775 after crossing the Kentucky River, founding what became Kentucky's second oldest European-American settlement. The outpost served as a major stronghold during the American Revolutionary War before it was abandoned in the early 1800s. The site is now a National Historic Landmark and is counted among the better-preserved archaeological remains tied to early westward settlement by British colonists of that era.
