About Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site

745 acres of farmland and ridges preserve the ground where the Battle of Perryville was fought, the largest Civil War engagement to take place in Kentucky. An interpretive museum stands near the burial ground of many Confederate soldiers killed in the fighting, and monuments, cannons, and interpretive signage mark other notable points across the field. The land has grown over time through parcels added by the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund and the American Battlefield Trust, and it joined the state park system in 1936.
