About Old Fort Harrod State Park

15 acres hold a rebuilt version of Fort Harrod, the settlement recognized as the first permanent American outpost in Kentucky. The reconstruction stands in place of the original stockade, which took its name from James Harrod, who brought an early group of settlers into the region. The grounds preserve that pioneer history on a small, walkable footprint just outside Harrodsburg.
