About Bayou Segnette State Park
Land along the west bank of the Mississippi River near New Orleans was set aside to protect the bayou and swamp terrain that gives the park its name. The site sits on Bayou Segnette itself, southwest of the city, preserving a stretch of wetland landscape on the river's western side. This ground reflects the low-lying, water-laced geography typical of the region surrounding Westwego.
