About Bogue Chitto State Park
A creek gave this park its name, from the Choctaw words bok chito, meaning big creek. It sits off Louisiana State Highway 25 and ranks among the newer additions to the state park system, having opened to the public on August 28, 2010, following roughly a three month delay from its originally planned date.
