About Lake Fausse Pointe State Park

Cypress swamp and backwater bordering the Atchafalaya Basin make up the setting here, spread across 6,000 acres of wetland terrain. The land was once home to the Chitimacha Indians, giving the site a long history of use before it became parkland. Its location next to the basin places visitors at the edge of one of the region's largest river swamps rather than in a developed or urban setting.
