About Vaughan Woods State Park

The Salmon Falls River borders this park at the Maine-New Hampshire line, with stands of old-growth forest along its banks. Three miles of hiking trails wind through the property, which also holds the restored Hamilton House. The land came to the state through a bequest from Elizabeth Vaughan in 1949, the same year the park was established.
