About Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park

Roughly 1,000 acres protect the towpath and remnants of the Blackstone Canal, built to move raw materials and finished goods between industrial centers along the Blackstone River. The park sits at the midpoint of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, ground associated with the early industrial revolution in America. Its southern entrance meets the historic Stanley Woolen Mill site, now being redeveloped for commercial and tourism use. The area was known to the Nipmuc as "Wacentug," meaning bend in the river.
