About Meridian-Baseline State Park

Surveyors marking the Michigan Survey established the intersection of the Michigan meridian and its baseline here, and that origin point is what the park now preserves. The 108-acre site spans Ingham and Jackson counties and holds two monuments, at the North Initial Point and South Initial Point, marking where the mismatched baselines meet the principal meridian.
