About Glacial Lakes State Park

Rolling prairie land makes up much of this park, preserved as one of the remaining stretches of the terrain that once covered a large part of Minnesota. Set within the Leaf Mountains, the grounds and surrounding area hold numerous glacial landforms shaped by the Wisconsonian glaciation. The mix of prairie and glacially carved terrain gives visitors a sense of the landscape that existed before much of it was altered elsewhere in the state.
