About Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area
Former iron ore mining land now carries 36 miles of trails across the recreation area's 1,864 acres, all reclaimed from active extraction that continued until 1981. The area sits east of Lake Ore-be-gone in Gilbert, Minnesota, and a further expansion of roughly 3,500 acres is in progress, with land acquisition underway to add to the current trail network.
