About Parker Homestead State Park
A single sod-roofed log cabin, built in the early 1900s, occupied this one-acre tract and represented the kind of dwelling raised by many of Montana's early frontier settlers. The site was maintained under a state lease rather than outright ownership, and that arrangement ended on January 1, 2010, when the commission let it lapse as a cost-saving move, returning the homestead to private hands.
