About Island Beach State Park

Ten miles of barrier peninsula make up this stretch of undeveloped shoreline on the Barnegat Peninsula in Berkeley Township. The land was once the borough of Island Beach before it became parkland, and it remains largely unbuilt compared to its surroundings. The New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry manages the site, which sits between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay just south of Seaside Park.
