About Johnson Hall State Historic Site
A Georgian-style mansion built for Sir William Johnson stands at the center of this property, marking the residence of the man who served as British Superintendent of Indian Affairs in colonial New York. The house reflects his position and his dealings with the Mohawk and other nations of the Iroquois League during the 1700s. Johnson lived there from 1763 until his death in 1774.
