About Steuben Memorial State Historic Site
A 16,000-acre land grant given to Baron von Steuben for his service in the American Revolution once covered this ground, and he built his summer residence on it. He is buried here in a wooded burial plot known as the Sacred Grove, and the site is dedicated to his role as the Continental Army's drillmaster.
