About Saddle Mountain State Natural Area
Protection here dates to 1928, safeguarding a summit in the Northern Oregon Coast Range that rises to become the highest point in the vicinity. A 2.5-mile hiking trail climbs from the base to the top of Saddle Mountain itself. From that summit on a clear day, the view extends to the Pacific Ocean, the mouth of the Columbia River, and several Cascade peaks across both Washington and Oregon.
