About Chapman State Park

Named for Dr. Leroy E. Chapman, a longtime state senator who worked with civic groups to bring a state park to the area, this 862-acre property centers on a constructed 68-acre lake. The grounds border Allegheny National Forest and State Game Land 29, and sit just off U.S. Route 6 near Clarendon. The park protects this wooded acreage and the reservoir within it, reflecting the senator's push for public land in the region.
