About Oil Creek State Park

Spanning 6,250 acres across Cherrytree, Cornplanter and Oil Creek Townships, the land follows Oil Creek between Titusville and Oil City along Pennsylvania Route 8. The creek serves as the main recreational draw, but the grounds also hold the remains of the nation's first oil boomtown and much of the state's early oil industry. A museum, tableaux, and trails explain that history, and an excursion train runs through the park. It sits next to the Drake Well Museum, where the first successful commercial oil well in the United States was drilled.
