Casa Navarro State Historic Site

About Casa Navarro State Historic Site

1832 marks the year José Antonio Navarro acquired this roughly 1.5-acre property, later building the limestone, caliche block, and adobe structures that still stand from that era through 1855. Navarro was a rancher and merchant who pushed for Tejano rights and was among just two native Texans to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence, and he lived on this land for much of his life. The buildings preserved here reflect his residence and work.
