About Martin Dies, Jr. State Park
Named for the congressman who represented the area, the park spans 705 acres along the Steinhagen Reservoir, straddling Jasper and Tyler counties. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department divides the grounds into three sections: Hen House Ridge, Walnut Ridge, and Cherokee Unit, with the latter set aside for day use only while the other two permit camping.
