About New River Trail State Park

A 57.7-mile rail trail forms the backbone of this park, running along a former railroad corridor from Pulaski at the northeastern end to Galax at the southern terminus. A 5.5-mile spur breaks off at Fries Junction and leads to the town of Fries. The park covers 1,217 acres entirely within southwest Virginia, giving visitors a long, narrow corridor to follow between its two main endpoints.
