About Steptoe Battlefield State Park Heritage Site

Three acres on the southeast side of Rosalia mark the ground where an 1858 clash unfolded, known as the Battle of Pine Creek. The heritage site commemorates the running fight between soldiers under Lt. Col. Edward Steptoe and a large force of Spokane, Palouse, and Coeur d'Alene fighters. Interpretive signage on site walks through how the battle progressed.
