About Heyburn State Park
Three lakes, Benewah, Chatcolet, and Hidden, make up the water at the center of this park, covering 2,332 acres alongside 5,744 acres of land. Their surface sits at 2,125 feet above sea level, a level raised when a 1906 dam on the Spokane River backed up Lake Coeur d'Alene into these waters. Founded in 1908, it is the oldest state or provincial park in the Pacific Northwest. Visitors can camp, boat, hike, ride horseback, fish, and picnic here year-round.
