About Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail
A former railroad bed converted to a long-distance trail carries travelers across roughly 300 miles of Washington, linking the Cascade Mountains' western foothills to the Idaho state line. The corridor runs through about two-thirds of the state, tracing the route once used by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. It was previously called the Iron Horse Trail and the John Wayne Pioneer Trail before taking its current name.
