About Canaan Valley Resort State Park
Canaan Valley sits at the highest elevation of any valley east of the Mississippi River, and the park occupies land within it that holds the second-largest inland wetland area in the country. The valley also holds a place in the state's development history as the site of the first commercial ski operation in West Virginia. That combination of high-elevation wetland and early ski terrain shapes the character of the grounds.
