About Pipestem Resort State Park
A gorge cut by the Bluestone River runs through this 4,050-acre property, shaping its terrain along the border of Mercer and Summers counties. Construction was funded through grants from the Area Redevelopment Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce during the Kennedy administration, and the park opened to visitors on Memorial Day in 1970, several years after it was formally established.
