About Leo Carrillo State Park

A mile and a half of Malibu coastline forms the core of this park, with parkland climbing into the Santa Monica Mountains behind it. The 2,513-acre property is part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and has grown to include land across the Ventura County line, along with management of County Line Beach. State Route 1 cuts through the grounds, meeting the western end of Mulholland Highway there. The park's name honors actor Leo Carrillo, who served on the California State Parks commission.
