The Santa Clara River meets the Pacific at this stretch of shoreline, where lush riverbanks and dune-backed sand draw notable numbers of birds. A nature trail runs from the beach to the Santa Clara Estuary Natural Preserve, and two miles of coastline offer surfing and fishing. The park sits along the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route and the California Coastal Trail, with the undeveloped Mandalay Beach Park reachable by a beach walk or bike ride to the south.
