About 2,000 acres straddle US 101 here, pinching the highway to its narrowest stretch along the entire route. The land protects old-growth coast redwoods, including one said to rank ninth largest among the species. The South Fork of the Eel River runs through for swimming, and the grounds hold 159 campsites along with space set aside for day use.
