About Steamboat Lake State Park
A 1,101-acre reservoir anchors this 2,820-acre tract west of Hahns Peak, land acquired in 1966 and opened to visitors in 1972. Sagebrush shrubland, aspen and lodgepole pine forests, and willow carr and marsh surround the water, drawing mule deer and red fox along with shorebirds and waterfowl. Sandhill cranes nest in the wetlands here. The grounds include a marina, boat ramps, cabins, picnic sites and 5.5 miles of hiking trails.
