About Collis P. Huntington State Park

Railroad magnate Collis Potter Huntington gave his name to this 1,017-acre property after his heirs gave the land to Connecticut. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by bear and wolf figures created by sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington, whose work also appears at Putnam Memorial State Park in Redding. Beyond that entrance, a network of trails spans the towns of Redding, Newtown, and Bethel, shared by hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders.
