About Dart Island State Park

A 19-acre sandbar island in the Connecticut River, reachable only by boat, has been set aside undeveloped since 1918. It sits within Middletown's city boundaries, with the Middletown Generating Station and a Pratt and Whitney plant standing on the river's opposite bank. Willow, poplar and red maple cover the island, and the state lists boating, fishing and bird watching as what visitors do there.
