About Big Shoals State Park
Limestone bluffs rise along the Suwannee River here, framing what is described as the largest whitewater rapids found anywhere in Florida. More than 28 miles of hiking and nature trails wind through the park, offering access to the riverbank for freshwater fishing. The combination of rock outcrops and moving whitewater on the Suwannee gives visitors a stretch of river terrain not typical of the state's flat landscape.
