About Waccasassa Bay Preserve State Park

Nearly 31,000 acres of salt marsh have been protected here since 1976, land that stretches from Cedar Key to Yankee Town along Florida's Gulf coast. The preserve has no road access, reachable only by boat, and takes in the section of the Gulf Hammock wetlands that lies closest to the Gulf. It protects tidal marsh rather than upland terrain, so a visit means arriving by water into open, low coastal wetland.
