About Crystal River Archaeological State Park

The Crystal River forms the southern edge of this 61-acre park, which preserves the Crystal River Site, a pre-Columbian mound complex, along with the related Roberts Island complex downstream. The park sits on a low bluff on the river's north bank, about 1.9 miles from where the river meets the Gulf of Mexico, and lies within the boundary of Crystal River Preserve State Park. The site is catalogued in the Florida Master Site File under the Smithsonian trinomial 8CI1.
