About Indian Springs State Park

Sulfur-smelling spring water, long used by the Creek people for healing, still flows here across 528 acres of land the state acquired through the Treaty of Indian Springs in 1825 and the Treaty of Washington in 1826. The site operated as a 19th-century resort town before becoming a State Forest Park in 1927, then, alongside Vogel, one of the two founding units of Georgia's state park system in 1931. It ranks among the oldest state parks in the country.
