About Kolomoki Mounds State Park
Seven earthen mounds built between 350 and 600 CE make up one of the largest and earliest Woodland period earthwork complexes in the Southeastern United States, and the largest such complex in Georgia. The site sits near the Chattahoochee River in southwest Georgia. Visitors can view the remains of a mound-building society that occupied this ground centuries before European contact.
